Rates reduced due to building works

Slough High Street
Over the last eighteen months, Slough Council have been making improvements in the form of relaying the pathways to the pedestrian areas of the high street. Although this is going to improve accessibility, in the current fragile economy, occupiers have found that the upheaval in the walkways have put off customers and their businesses have been detrimentally affected.
The disruption manifests itself in the form of noise, dust and dirt from the cutting of paving stones. As a consequence, many of the shops have had to close their doors whilst the walkway outside their premises was being re-laid.
Not surprisingly, many of the businesses can’t absorb this loss in such unstable times. Restaurants and cafés have seen numbers of customers fall significantly, especially since the quiet lunchtime break was anything but!
