Introducing Our Key People

Roderick J V Bisset
BSc MRICS IRRV

Roderick specialises in Business Rates and Agency services. He advises many businesses in London and the South East on claims for disturbance due to building works, licensed property rating valuation and motor trade property valuation. He is our lead expert witness/advocate surveyor before the Valuation Tribunal. He read Land Management at De Montfort University and undertook his professional training with Edwin Hill Chartered Surveyors in Central London where he subsequently became a Partner. In 1997 he resigned his partnership to form BMH with fellow Directors, Simon Moffatt and Stephen Hill.

Simon G F Moffatt BSc FRICS IRRV (Hons) ACIArb FICBA

Simon is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), a member of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV) and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb). Having over 25 years of commercial property experience, he has amassed considerable expertise in business rates, most forms of commercial agency, leaseholder services such as rent reviews, lease re-gearing and lease renewals. From 1984, Simon has worked for various surveying practices in North and Central London before resigning his partnership at Edwin Hill Chartered Surveyors in 1997 to set up BMH. Whist primarily a specialist rating surveyor, he also heads up the Agency and Leaseholder Services’ departments advising UK companies on strategic property asset management. Simon is also an External Examiner for the University of Westminster (Faculty: Architecture & the Built Environment) and an APC Quality Assurance Auditor for the RICS.

Stephen Hill

Finance Director at BMH Properties Ltd trading as Bisset Moffatt Hill Chartered Surveyors. I have over thirty years experience in the field of Rating Valuation commencing with experience at the Valuation Office Agency and subsequently at Altus Edwin Hill.

My expertise lies in Rating Valuation and building survey and measurement as well as commercial accounting and bookkeeping. Stephen is in charge of our Thames Valley Business Rates team.

You may like the sound of this but not the anticipated cost of engaging us. Here is the good news! As RICS qualified surveyors, our rating valuation services are performance based.

If we don't make any financial savings on your behalf - you do not pay a fee.

If we do make savings, you pay us a percentage of the savings we have negotiated for you at the very end of the process. So if you use our services there is absolutely no risk to you! In the last seventeen years a substantial part of our workload has focused on reducing our clients' business rates' liability.

An initial meeting and analysis of your rate demand is a good place to start. Because we offer a professional and dedicated service to all our clients, we do not make cases where they don't exist. So, whether you are based within a marina, a steel rolling mill or an industrial unit on a business park, contact us today.

 

 

These services are commonly referred to as "Landlord and Tenant" services. However, we use the term leaseholder service as our service focuses on the tenant only.

BMH provides rental advice to owners and occupiers of commercial property throughout the UK. This usually covers such familiar matters as rent reviews, lease re-gearing and lease renewals.

However we can also advise on specialist matters such as implementing a break option or how to protect against onerous repairing obligations.

We also prepare Expert Witness reports for Arbitration and Independent Expert submissions and in conjunction with recommended Building Surveyors, we can provide strategic advice on how to limit damages for breach of repairing obligations in dilapidation cases.
